The Role
We are looking for a rare breed of talent: a seasoned, highly analytical Partner – Legal, Compliance & Product Risk who is as passionate about elegant software architecture as they are about rock-solid legal frameworks.
This is a high-impact, individual contributor (IC) role for a nimble, solutions-focused lawyer who doesn’t want to manage a sprawling, slow-moving department. Instead, you will work directly at the intersection of law and engineering. You will own our entire legal and risk landscape, collaborating side-by-side with product squads to ensure our automated SaaS tools are compliant, defensible, and built on bulletproof logic.
What You Will Do
1. Product Risk & Engineering Collaboration
Architect Legal-by-Design SaaS: Partner directly with Product and Engineering to ensure our software architecture natively respects global regulatory standards, data privacy laws, and compliance benchmarks.
Bridge Legal & Engineering: Act as the logical translator between legal regulations and software development, converting complex multi-jurisdictional rulesets into clean, structured logic that our engineering team can build into our platforms.
Mitigate Algorithmic Risk: Analyze and mitigate product risks associated with automated decision-making and data processing, ensuring our systems remain fair, transparent, and legally defensible.
2. Legal, Compliance & Governance
Draft, review, and negotiate enterprise SaaS agreements, data processing addendums (DPAs), and vendor contracts with an eye for reducing transaction friction.
Design and maintain nimble, company-wide compliance and risk mitigation frameworks that scale with our growth.
3. Data Privacy & Product Trust (DPO Role)
Serve as our designated Data Privacy Officer, taking full ownership of our global data privacy strategy (GDPR, CCPA, and local privacy acts).
Conduct continuous Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) on new product features, integrations, and data flows.
4. Intellectual Property (IP) Strategy
Lead the protection of Talent Modular’s proprietary technology, managing our patent strategy, trademark filings, and intellectual property portfolio.
5. Global Employment Standards & Compliance
Workforce Advisory: Provide strategic, high-level guidance on global employment frameworks, workforce compliance, and diverse regulatory standards to support both our internal operations and our product roadmap.
Who You Are
Credentialed: You hold a professional Law Degree (JD, LLB, or equivalent) and possess an active bar license or membership.
A "Roll-Up-Your-Sleeves" Solo Operator: You thrive in lean, high-velocity environments. You love executing end-to-end without relying on administrative support.
SaaS & Tech Fluent: You don't just review contracts; you understand APIs, data structures, and how algorithms operate. You are excited by the challenge of translating legal code into software rules.
Strong Employment Law Foundation: You possess a robust background in global employment law, workforce compliance frameworks, and navigating multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments.
